We are delighted to be partnering exclusively with The ExtraCare Charitable Trust in Coventry to recruit a Digital Project Manager on an initial 9 month fixed term contract. The role is paying £65,000 FTE per annum, plus benefits.

The ExtraCare Charitable Trust is a registered charity established in 1988, based in Coventry. They employ 1250 staff, with a turnover of over £60m plus over £70m of property sales, offering 4199 homes for older people.

Their vision is 'Better Lives for Older People' and their mission is to 'Create sustainable communities that provide homes older people want, lifestyles they can enjoy and care if it is needed.'

To deliver their vision and mission they essentially do three things:

  • Develop new villages.
  • Operate villages and schemes.
  • Support their villages, schemes and their 'extra-care' model through fundraising, advocacy & research.

Since 1988, ExtraCare has been the UK's leading not-for-profit pioneer for retirement living, opening 20 locations around their Midlands base and further South.

As a charity their surpluses are re-invested into charitable activities - helping them provide better services and support.

The Digital Project Manager role offers a rare opportunity to implement "green field" major systems - going from paper to digital. It offers exposure to a wide variety of systems across housing, charity and retail sectors. The current Project team are a friendly and stable team that are expanding.

The Digital Project Manager will be required to:

  • Review ExtraCare's digital and IT project delivery structure, processes, and capability, making recommendations and implementing changes as agreed.
  • Maintain a programme plan, based on available resource/capability (and advising what additional is needed to accelerate).
  • Set-up and manage a process of regularly reviewing changing business priorities and adjusting the plan.
  • Deliver a portfolio of Digital & IT projects (managed by project managers / product owners) to time and budget according to business priority set by a Programme Board. Projects include:
  1. Completing implementation of Birdie digital care system.
  2. Procurement & implementation of a new Housing Management system to replace largely manual processes and spreadsheets and a couple of small legacy systems.
  3. Small "low-code" development projects delivered either internally or by our technology partner.
  4. Specification and procurement of replacement Wellbeing system (currently a be-spoke legacy system).
  5. Establishment of a data warehouse and business intelligence/reporting capability.
  6. Assist project leads and sponsors in creating business cases and measuring benefits realization during and after project delivery.
  • Line management of up to five roles (2 x Business Analysts, Product Owner, Low-Code Developer and Data Engineer).
  • Manage stakeholders, including promoting the projects and communicating status across the organisation (via the Internal Communications function).
  • Budget management of project budget (approx. £1.2M / annum).
  • Provide project status reporting, including to Executive Leadership Team and Board.
  • Promote equality, diversity and inclusion throughout the Charity, amongst ExtraCare staff, residents and customers.
  • To take responsibility for all aspects of Health and Safety, Information Security and Risk Management in your work area ensuring ExtraCare's Policies and requirements are fully implemented, monitored, and adhered to at all times.

This post is subject to a satisfactory DBS disclosure where applicable, two satisfactory references, medical clearance and Home Office right to work clearance.

The Digital Project Manager will:

  • Ideally hold Membership of APM, PMI or a similar body.
  • Have AgilePM certification & PRINCE2 certification.
  • Be educated to a degree level and be able to evidence continuous professional development.
  • Hold Microsoft certifications in Dynamics, Power Platform, Azure.
  • Evidence successful delivery of digital projects within a similar sized (or larger) organisation.
  • Provide examples of managing a range (scope, size, technology) of digital and technology projects.
  • Have the ability to manage business stakeholders and project sponsors.
  • Provide previous experience of report writing at Committee and Board level.
  • Have used both Agile (AgilePM) and waterfall project management methodology.
  • Have experience delivering projects on the Microsoft Dynamics / Power Platform.
  • Provide evidence managing projects across the whole lifecycle - requirements, procurement, deployment, cutover, testing.
  • Have line managed a team of 3 or more.
  • Ideally have worked in the Social Housing, Not-for-Profit or Care Sectors.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Provide working examples of influencing others positively to achieve common goals.

Digital Project Manager:

  • £65,000 FTE per annum.
  • 9 month fixed term contract - possible opportunity for contract extension or a permanent role.
  • 37.5 hours per week.
